Department of Business and Marketing

Commerce is the study of creating and running the companies and businesses that support the world. There are about 4 million companies in Japan, and you can get food and products from overseas at a store close to you. Through a vast network of distribution and information, you need to think about "what kind of products," "where," "at what price," and "how" to sell them. To do this, you need to not only read business documents and numbers, but also use your creativity to develop new products and services. It is important to communicate value to customers using advertising and social media, sell in stores and online, and provide customers with new experiences. In addition, it is companies that support commercial transactions. You will be required to start your own business, think about management strategies, revitalize the organization, raise funds, and record them as accounting.

Business Practice Advanced Seminar | Professor Osamu Kikima

写真

This is a practical class that starts by going outside the classroom to observe people's lives and delve into social issues, and goes beyond conceiving a business that will change the world to actually developing and testing products and services. Not only do students develop the ability to develop new businesses by mobilizing the various knowledge they have learned in Faculty of Commerce, but they also hone their business and communication skills, such as working together in teams and collaborating with external companies. As an example, students in one team launched a project to collect and resell used clothing from the perspective of the SDGs, and donated the proceeds to the local government.

Hirakawa Mikiko Seminar

Ability to increase assets through investments,
Ability to make and act on one's own decisions

写真

By actually investing with their own money, students will acquire the ability to manage assets while working, and the ability to make and execute their own judgments and decisions. Investing will deepen their interest in domestic and international political and economic situations, and the ability to select a company based on that knowledge will be useful when choosing a company when looking for work. To help students understand the knowledge necessary for investing, we also encourage them to obtain a Financial Planning Technician (national qualification).

In the seminar, you can learn about financial planning and stock investment. I recommend this to people who are interested in asset formation for the future. There are many opportunities to make presentations using PowerPoint, so I was able to improve my presentation skills. There are a wide variety of employment opportunities.

As part of the "Chikugo Udon" project, the students traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam, developed a business plan for starting a business, and gave a presentation. Through various activities, they have been able to see their practical skills improving.
