Research Topics

Research on crypto assets and CBDC

We are researching and analyzing crypto assets (virtual currencies) and CBDCs (central bank digital currencies), which have been attracting attention in recent years, their mechanisms, current status, future developments, challenges, etc. These assets and currencies have various differences from the "legal tender" (paper money and coins) that we currently use, and are thought to have the potential to have a major impact on our economic activities in the future.
In graduate school classes, while building on basic knowledge about the role of money and monetary systems, we also engage in practical research, such as examining issues with systems and mechanisms based on reports from graduate students who have actually used cryptocurrencies and CBDCs.

Future vision: Financial institution, financial planner, etc.

Research Topics

Research on marine litter problems

Regarding the problem of marine litter, which has become an urgent issue in recent years, we will analyze the current situation from the perspectives of "region," "environment," "economy," "policy," and "SDGs." We will then explore clues to solving the problem by examining the circular economy and plastic resource circulation, etc., and pursue ways to create sustainable communities.
In addition to conducting research and studies based on literature, students will also contribute to the local community through practical activities such as collaborating with local nature conservation groups to clean up beaches and participating in the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) campaign to classify the trash they collect.
