Research Field Overview

Students will study a wide range of subjects from civil engineering design, environmental studies, ecology, and maintenance engineering in areas where there is high demand in the industry, such as global environmental conservation, advanced maintenance, and the establishment of disaster prevention systems. We will nurture urban development specialists who have advanced knowledge and design capabilities that contribute to the formation of sustainable infrastructure.
Research Topics
Collapse behavior of structures in the event of an unexpected large earthquake
Establishment of prediction methods and consideration of control methods

In order to avoid catastrophic damage in the event of a major earthquake that exceeds the design assumptions, we are clarifying the collapse behavior of structures, establishing prediction methods for that behavior, and researching collapse control methods. After conducting collapse experiments at the model level and verifying the validity and accuracy of the simulation, we use supercomputers to analyze the collapse behavior of full-scale structures.
Future vision: Civil engineers who create safe and comfortable social infrastructure
Development of rapid neutral improvement material for mud

As the recycling of mud and construction sludge progresses, there is a demand for methods and materials that can improve soil more quickly while minimizing the burden on the environment. We are aiming to develop improvement materials for high water content mud that promote water absorption and granulation without changing the pH.
Future Vision: Civil engineers who contribute to creating a sustainable society
