Research Area Overview

Due to changes in social structure such as technological innovation, information technology, and internationalization, the role and possibilities of art are gradually changing. In the field of artistic expression, we strive to create works that accurately grasp the demands of the times while protecting traditions, and that also take into account innovation in the art world. Furthermore, we will approach art in modern society from the perspective of a researcher and pursue its true value.

Research Area Overview

The program is comprised of the fields of painting and sculpture, arts and culture, and media arts research. In painting, sculpture, and media arts, students gain experience in production, and through specialized research, the program aims to train researchers with creativity and rich sensibilities, as well as artists with a broad perspective and advanced specialized knowledge and techniques who can respond to a borderless arts environment. In arts and culture, the program actively takes up the methodologies and results of social history, intellectual history, literary criticism, etc., and aims to train talent who can explore the diverse possibilities of art research from a broad perspective and awareness, and who can carry out theoretical research across the arts in general.
