Characteristics of the Department

Emphasis on practical learning
Educational curriculum

To cultivate the design, development, and research capabilities required of engineers and researchers based on mechanical and electrical engineering, we have prepared an educational curriculum that provides practical learning and experience through lectures, practical training, experiments, analysis, and AI utilization. Through these, we are developing human resources who will play an active role in important industries in Japan, such as the semiconductor industry, the automotive industry, and the electronics and information technology industry.

Specialized courses start from the third year.
Commenced research activities

In their fourth year, students undertake a year-long research project for their "Graduation Research," where they are assigned to a research laboratory with a wide range of research fields and themes based on mechanical engineering and electrical and electronic engineering. As a bridge to their graduation research, students participate in a pre-graduation research project in the second semester of their third year, "Exploring Mechanical Engineering," where they can acquire specialized knowledge and skills (literature review, experimental and analytical techniques, data organization, and presentation) in preparation for their graduation research.

Industry-academia-regional collaboration
Problem solving

To solve the problems faced by local businesses, we utilize what we've learned in lectures, practical training, and experiments, and work to resolve issues through collaboration with local residents. By engaging in research that addresses the diverse needs of society, we cultivate engineers and researchers with practical skills and collaborative abilities.

Advanced Program

A support program that responds to motivation

Aiming for design, development, and qualification acquisition.
Mechanical and electrical engineers
Training program

Our faculty members work in teams to teach manufacturing-related knowledge and skills in small groups. We also enhance students' motivation to learn specialized subjects through learning about research and job placement, as well as interaction with senior students. Furthermore, we support students in obtaining national qualifications such as electrical engineer licenses, resulting in many successful candidates.

Four-year learning process

First yearMechanical and electrical/electronic engineering
Foundation building

To acquire a foundation in mechanical and electrical engineering, students will study basic mathematics, basic physics, fundamentals of mechanical and electrical engineering, fundamentals of mechanical mechanics, and electrical circuits I, as well as programming and foreign languages. Furthermore, they will develop communication skills through their university life.

2nd yearBasic knowledge of each series and
Acquire skills

Through lectures, experiments, and practical training, students will learn the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to become mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineers, developers, and researchers. Furthermore, they will challenge themselves to obtain certifications, thereby increasing their value as engineers.

3rd yearApplied versions of each series
Acquire specialized knowledge

Building upon the foundational knowledge acquired in the first two years, students deepen their understanding of their respective specialties (mechatronics, manufacturing, electrical energy, semiconductors and electronic communications) through lectures, experiments, and practical training. Furthermore, in the field of mechanical and electrical engineering exploration, research activities begin in preparation for the graduation research project in the fourth year.

4th yearIn the future (employment/further education)
Activities toward

Students will engage in research on topics in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering through seminars, literature reviews, experiments, and other activities, culminating in a graduation thesis and presentation. Through these processes, they will acquire the necessary skills to become engineers, developers, and researchers, which will lead to employment or further education.

4 lineages

Mechatronics

You will acquire knowledge and skills related to mechatronics, a technological field that combines mechanics (mechanical engineering) and electronics (electrical engineering).

Manufacturing-related

Students will acquire knowledge and skills related to mechanical design and engineering intuition through the four fundamental disciplines of mechanical engineering.

Electrical energy system

You will systematically learn about the generation, conversion, supply, and control of electricity, and acquire the knowledge and skills to support a sustainable energy society.

Semiconductor and Electronic Communications

Students will gain an understanding of electronic properties, semiconductor devices and other electronic devices, and the mechanisms of optical communication, acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for design and development.

To realize a prosperous future society
Research and development of high-performance superconducting materials

Superconducting materials possess unique properties not found in other metals or semiconductors, including the ability to achieve zero electrical resistance. Superconductivity is a technology essential for realizing a smart society and improving the performance of medical devices, as demonstrated by its applications in MRI imaging equipment and superconducting maglev trains. Our laboratory conducts research and development of new high-performance superconducting materials, which are indispensable for realizing a prosperous future society, by controlling superconducting materials at the nanoscale. With an educational and research environment equipped with advanced measuring and analytical instruments, we cultivate individuals who can excel not only in the field of superconductivity but also in fields such as semiconductors and electronic materials.
