Kakiemon style kiln

Experience the techniques handed down by Kakiemon in a secret wood-fired kiln

A wood-fired kiln with both climbing and single kiln functions was installed on campus in October 2000. It was designed by the late 14th generation Sakaida Kakiemon, who was a professor at the Kyushu Sangyo University University Graduate Graduate School of Fine Arts at the time, and follows the closely guarded "Kakiemon Kiln" design, with the hope that "young people who aspire to be artists will be able to experience first-hand the depth of traditional crafts." It has become a symbol of the university's openness to the local community.
