A "family-friendly accommodation plan" designed by Faculty of Commerce students has been commercialized!

Students from the Department of Business Department of Business and Marketing Faculty of Commerce worked on planning an original accommodation package as part of a collaborative project with Kyukamura Shikanoshima (Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City).

This project provides students with a practical learning environment where they can proactively engage in regional development and tourism promotion. To date, they have planned original accommodation packages and developed products utilizing local produce.

This year, taking into account current tourism needs and Shikanoshima's abundant natural resources, we planned an accommodation package that includes an experiential program. Based on the concept of "learning x experience," we devised a program that would allow guests to experience strawberry food education and nature learning on the coast. After presenting to the facility staff, the students' ideas were actually commercialized and sold as an accommodation package called "Fun for Parents and Children! - Nighttime Strawberry Picking & Seashell Photo Frame Making."

Project member Kaito Fujise (2nd year student/Higashi Fukuoka High School) said, "We started by actually staying at the facility as a team and interviewing users and staff to get a firsthand feel for the needs and challenges on site. We researched examples of experiential activities and, through trial and error, arrived at a plan for today's children. This project was a good experience to put into practice the theories I learned in Faculty of Commerce, and I realized the importance of building a plan by steadily accumulating support based on data and case studies. I would like to use this experience in my future activities."
