Nishimoto Kosuke, a fourth-year student Department of Architecture, won the Grand Prize at the 10th Sankyo Aluminum Student Architectural Design Competition!

Kosuke Nishimoto (Iwakuni High School), a fourth-year student Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering Department of Architecture, was selected as the Grand Prize winner from among 145 entries nationwide at the 10th Sankyo Aluminum Student Architectural Design Competition, sponsored by Sankyo Tateyama Co., Ltd. and Sankyo Aluminum Co., Ltd.

This design competition is open to students from vocational schools, junior colleges, universities, and graduate schools across the country, and this year's, the 10th, was held under the theme of "Stations that make you want to stop by."

The title of Nishimoto's work is "Valley of Festive Stays." Inspired by the word "festival," he proposed an architectural design for Uminonakamichi Station in Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City, transforming a place where people simply wait for a train into a place where people want to stop by of their own volition for an "accidental stay."

Nishimoto commented, "When I was making the sketches, I used the design I had done for the ABC Architecture Dojo 's "Shumai" class, which I had been working on for two years, as material for analysis, and arrived at this form. I paid particular attention to the texture of the models and presentation boards, so that the station would feel like an extraordinary place, like a festival. Encouraged by this award, I would like to continue working hard and aim for even greater heights in the graduation design competition."
