Every year, students from Faculty of Art and Design work on creating the main visual for the Higashi Ward Arts and Culture Festival*.
On Sunday, September 28th, five students and their supervising professors installed their finished works in the lobby on the first floor of Namiki Square (Chihaya, Higashi-ku, Fukuoka).
The theme of this work is "Knowledgeis power." After the exhibit was decided in July of this year Department of Living Environment Designstudents from the Faculty of Life Environment Design Department and Department of Fine Arts and Media Sciences worked together to create the main visual, which resembles a human head, using wood and foam.
Shiho Ikuno Department of Living Environment Design who served as the leader of the exhibition, said, "We wanted to express the idea that as the words in a book enter your head, your creativity becomes richer and leads to freer thinking. Depending on the angle you look at it from, you can see a person's face or the words inside your head, so we hope you will enjoy the exhibition as you walk around."
Additionally, a representative from Higashi Ward's Planning and Promotion Division said, "The Higashi Library is located right next to this main visual, and this is a wonderful piece that has a strong affinity with the facility. We hope that many people will come and see it."
The exhibition is scheduled to run from Sunday, September 28thtoThursday, December 25th. Please come and see it.
