Animal footprints give courage to children!

On Saturday, December 13th, 11 students from Faculty of Art and Design and the Faculty of Faculty of Economics worked on a design project called "Footprint Adventure 2025" at Fukuoka City Children's Hospital (Kasai Teruha, Higashi-ku, Fukuoka).

This project was conceived to alleviate, even if only a little, the pain and anxiety of children about to undergo surgery at the hospital.

The concept of "following the footprints of animals will take you to the operating room where the animals are" had been implemented at the hospital until now, but because the decoration was done by hand, there were issues with the design expression and durability. This time, our students worked on reconstructing the space and design based on existing efforts.

While respecting the existing concept, the students organized the illustrations, layout, and overall consistency to make it easier for children to understand their operating room and the flow of the surgery before surgery, and to help them feel at ease. They used highly durable materials for the corridor in front of the operating room and the two operating rooms, and created a spatial presentation using animal illustrations, creating an environment that is both clean and fun.
