Yamamoto Riko wins the Grand Prize in the Japanese Painting category at the 37th Yanagawa City General Art Exhibition!

At the 37th Yanagawa City General Art Exhibition, a Japanese painting by Ms. Riko Yamamoto (Denshukan High School), a fourth-year student in the Department of Department of Fine Arts and Media Sciences Faculty of Art and Design won the Grand Prize in the Japanese painting category.

The winning piece is titled "Someday in the Middle of Time." Looking up at the cherry blossoms from below, the flowers are dimly reflected in the backlight, and the sky visible in the distance is expressed in a variety of shades of blue using a number of pigments.

Yamamoto says, "I wanted the work to have the impression that each person who sees it will be reminded of a scene from 'some time ago,' so I finished it with a vague expression. I am very happy that my work has been evaluated in this way."

The winning works, including Yamamoto's, will be exhibited at Yanagawa Civic Cultural Center from Sunday, October 26th to Monday, November 3rd (national holiday). Please come and see them.
