TUFS has recently concluded an international exchange agreement with Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute (LNBTI University).
LNBTI University is the only Nikkei higher education institution in South Asia that is recognized as a degree-awarding institution. It offers a unique program that combines software engineering with Japanese language study, and approximately 480 students are studying there.
On Thursday, October 2, President Arnanda Kumara and officials from the Japan-Sri Lanka Exchange Association visited the university and signed an international exchange agreement. The President said, "We are grateful for this wonderful agreement, and like Kyushu Sangyo University, LNBTI University aims to nurture global human resources, and we are working on initiatives to provide them with guidance to help them find employment. We hope that this agreement will be a catalyst for exchange between Japan and Sri Lanka, and by extension between Japan and South Asia.
On the same day, a special lecture entitled "Relationships between South Asia and Japan" was held at our university, where President Kumara spoke on a wide range of topics, including his thoughts on education, the historical ties between Sri Lanka and Japan, local food culture, and the values of young people.
The president said, "It takes courage to express your opinions in front of others, but it is a skill you will need when working in a global environment in the future. I hope you will develop this ability now, along with a hungry spirit. It is also important to ask questions, and there is no problem in frankly expressing your feelings to your teachers. Even if you are wrong, you will acquire correct thinking as you learn, so I hope you will be honest about your doubts and thoughts."
After the lecture, the participating students asked many questions, such as "Please tell me what Sri Lankan students find attractive about Japan" and "What did you gain from studying in Japan?", making it a fulfilling time to learn about Sri Lanka and its culture.
