On Thursday, November 16th, Associate Professor Shinya Morishita of the Kyushu Sangyo University, Zokei Junior College of Art and Design held a lecture and workshop at the university library to promote the appeal of picture books and illustrated encyclopedias. 23 people, including local residents, participated.
In the first half of the lecture, Associate Professor Morishita gave a unique analysis of why picture books are loved by people of all ages and genders, and a lecture on the relationship between books and people. In the second half, he expressed the act of searching for picture books as "traveling and encountering them," and held a workshop to search for picture books in the library based on themes such as "A touching book encountered on a journey" and "A thrilling book encountered on a journey" that appeared from a capsule machine made from cardboard.
Participants commented, "Although it was difficult to find a picture book based on verbalized impressions, it was a new discovery."
