Starting in 2023, our university will be offering a faculty-wide collaborative course called the "Practical Collaboration Course (KSU Student Public Relations Caster)" for second-year students, with the aim of training students to spread the appeal of our university both inside and outside the university.
At the certification ceremony on Monday, December 22nd, President Kitajima presented each student with a certificate, and 20 new "Student Public Relations Casters" were born.
Through this course, the students learned practical skills from special lecturers including a newspaper reporter, an advertising agency media planner, and a TV station announcer on information gathering, document creation, and effective communication methods. To put this into practice, the students appeared on stage as student newscasters for each faculty at the "Pre-Entrance Day *" held at the university on Saturday, December 20th, introducing university life and the characteristics of each faculty with the use of photos and videos.
Prospective students who participated shared their impressions, saying, "The talks by the seniors were easy to understand, and it broadened my image of university life. I want to try a wide range of different things," and "They explained to me through timetables and videos what daily life is like, and it has made me look forward to classes and club activities after I enroll."
Maruyama Yasuki (N High School), a student in the Department of Information Science of Science and Faculty of Science and Engineering, said, "I wasn't originally good at speaking in front of people, but as I took more classes, I became able to clearly express my opinions. On the day of the pre-entrance day, I used the speaking tips I learned from the announcer and was able to organize the necessary information and give a talk within the limited time. I would like to use the interview methods, note-taking techniques, and presentation techniques I learned in this class in extracurricular activities such as job hunting."
In the future, the KSU student public relations anchors will be involved in public relations activities in various settings, mainly at open campus events.
*This program is aimed at high school students who plan to enroll next year. It is part of pre-enrollment education and is aimed at helping them maintain high motivation at the time of the entrance exam, while also giving them advance information about university studies and alleviating their anxieties by helping them make friends early on, with the aim of helping them make a smooth transition to university life after enrolling.
