Open lecture "Japanese and American services from the perspective of cross-cultural management" held

On Tuesday, June 11th, Visiting Professor Tadayuki Hara gave a special open lecture entitled "US and Japanese Service from the Perspective of Cross-Cultural Management." A total of 84 people, including students and members of the public, participated.

The visiting professor currently teaches at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida (USA) and has been invited by our university as a visiting professor Faculty of Collaborative Regional Development.

The lecture began with an explanation of motivation theory, followed by an introduction to the things necessary for cross-cultural management. By knowing the culture and characteristics of each country before assigning personnel, problems can be prevented and communication in the workplace can be made smoother. Specific examples were given to explain the importance of knowing different cultures. After that, organizational strategy and leadership were introduced, with various examples given, including the labor shortage problem in the tourism industry and how to solve it.

Participants shared their impressions, saying, "I was able to understand the differences in culture, business, and working styles between Japan and other countries," and "I was able to learn about cross-cultural management from various perspectives."
