[Nishi-Nippon City Bank Special Lecture] Students present policy proposals on the theme of "The role of regional banks in a period of rising interest rates"

On Wednesday, July 16th, students enrolled in the joint lecture "Financial Institutions" (taught by Associate Professor Shimoda Shinya and Lecturer Nemoto Atsushi) from the Faculty of Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Commerce gave a presentation to executives and staff of Nishi-Nippon City Bank on the theme of "The Role of Regional Banks in a Period of Rising Interest Rates."

The lectures provide practical financial education, with lecturers from executives and employees of group companies of Nishinippon Financial Holdings. Since April, students have been receiving specialized lectures from staff in areas such as digital strategy, lending operations, and solutions operations, acquiring financial knowledge and deepening their understanding of career development in the financial industry.

On this final day of the program, the students analyzed the impact of rising interest rates based on their own unique perspectives and learned lessons learned to date, proposing specific measures for a regional bank. They presented original ideas such as establishing a human resources investment fund to address population outflows in municipalities in Fukuoka Prefecture, and a cashback program in collaboration with local shopping districts to attract new customers.

After all eight groups presented, the presentations were evaluated by bank officials and faculty members, and the top prize was awarded to Group F Faculty of Commerce, who proposed a "regional revitalization plan that combines educational loans and job placement."

Hiroyuki Izumihara, Managing Executive Officer of the bank, concluded by saying, "Thank you for your proposals, which tackled difficult issues from various angles and required repeated verification, even for which we had difficulty finding the right answer. We will compile your presentations and use them in our work. We also have many active graduates of Kyushu Sangyo University working at our bank. We hope that one day we will be able to work with all of you who have become interested in finance through this learning experience."
