Third and fourth year students in Associate Professor Kata Keimi's seminar in the Department of Department of Business and Marketing Faculty of Commerce, are working with Drug Eleven Co., Ltd. (Onojo City, Fukuoka Prefecture) and Unilever Japan (Meguro Ward, Tokyo) on a project to promote the SDGs and prevent resource waste.
Now in its third year, the project involves both companies promoting and selling refillable products with the aim of reducing plastic products, and also involves raising awareness of "responsible use" from the consumer's perspective and considering ways to promote the spread of refillable products.
On Tuesday, October 7th, students working on this project presented their catchphrases and POP design proposals to four representatives from both companies. This year, they came up with ideas for refillable products such as shampoo that would foster awareness of resource reuse and stimulate purchasing desire. Each student defined their targeting and concept and explained a total of 22 proposals.
Taking the proposal as a basis, Takeshi Iwakura of the General Affairs and Planning Department at Drug Eleven Co., Ltd. commented, "It was a wonderful presentation that conveyed each student's thoughts and marketing awareness. We will consider incorporating this proposal into our physical stores."
Last year, we worked on creating POP for body soap refill products, which were adopted by eight Drug Eleven stores in the prefecture. Thanks to the support of customers, we saw results that led to increased sales of refill products, and this time we plan to expand this initiative to the entire Fukuoka and Kyushu regions.
The POP proposed by the students is scheduled to be displayed in Drug Eleven stores across the prefecture around January 2026.
