On Wednesday, October 8th, Associate Professor Kata Emi of Department of Business and Marketing Faculty of Commerce taught a special lecture entitled "Retail Marketing Theory," in collaboration with the Japan Sales Professionals Association, featuring Masakazu Ogushi, Sales Manager and Marketing Strategy Director at Josuian Co., Ltd., with approximately 200 attendees.
This course uses familiar examples to systematically study the marketing activities of retail companies, and teaches how retail companies sell their products effectively and efficiently.
The first half of the lecture covered trends in the Japanese confectionery market, the history of Josuian, and an overview and characteristics of the retail industry, using examples from the company. Quizzes were interspersed at key points, and correct answers were met with applause from everyone, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the lecture.
In the second half of the session, Ogushi introduced the marketing strategy for "Hakata Hitoshina," a product he helped develop, which proved to be very meaningful for students who are already learning about "selling mechanisms." He also introduced the Retail Marketing (Salesperson) Certification Examination, which all students are aiming to obtain, and provided a practical opportunity for everyone to try out past exam questions.
Ogushi concluded by saying, "I believe that a good worker is someone who can make many people happy. One ideal is to increase the number of fans, or customers, and create products and services that people can relate to together. I hope that you will all feel a connection between yourself and society, and find the fulfillment of your work to be a purpose in life."
