We held a study abroad consultation session and promoted Chikugo udon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam!

 9月6日(土)、ベトナムのホーチミンで、商学部経営・流通学科船岡健太教授ゼミの学生が取り組んでいる「ベトナム向け筑後うどんの新メニュー開発プロジェクト」のPRイベントを開催しました。

The event featured an introduction to our university and consultation sessions for Vietnamese people considering studying in Japan, as well as a hands-on experience and promotion of "Chikugo Udon" for local stakeholders. A total of more than 120 people, including Vietnamese people considering studying abroad and local buyers, attended the event held at Akuruhi Tower.

The event began with a speech from Consul-General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, Yumioka Mina, who said, "I believe this event is a symbol of peace and friendship between Japan and Vietnam," followed by an interpreting session by Vietnamese students in which they introduced university life in Japan, international exchange at our university, and job-hunting support for international students. Many Vietnamese people who picked up the university guide that was distributed asked questions to our students about the academic fields that can be studied at our university.

The Chikugo udon promotion began with a presentation by participating students on the appeal of Chikugo udon and its international expansion, followed by a hands-on Chikugo udon making class led by Todoroki Kazuhiro, president of Ichiyoshi Udon (head office: Miyaki-cho, Saga Prefecture), which has a branch in Ho Chi Minh City. This was followed by a tasting of Vietnamese-style Teriyaki Chicken Udon, a Chikugo udon created for Vietnam by Vietnamese exchange students Martha Ha and Kazuna Satomura (third-year students in the same department at Kagoshima High School). Each participant in the hands-on udon making class was presented with a certificate of completion by the representative.

Kiri Yukio, a second-year student in the same department (Fukuoka Kaisei High School), reflected on the event, saying, "As part of my summer classes, I participated in an internship at Ichiyoshi Udon. Because I had learned about Chikugo udon beforehand, I was able to explain it with confidence on the day of the event. The local people were more interested than I expected, and they seemed to be smiling the whole time during the Chikugo udon making class. I was very happy because I was able to promote Chikugo udon to Vietnam, just as I had envisioned. I also got to actively interact with people from overseas, which I don't normally get to do, so it was a really fun and great opportunity!"
