Introduction of a demand-responsive transportation operation management web system on Okinawa's remote islands

 

From Saturday, November 1st, the shared and chartered taxi "Carotaku" will be operating on Tsuken Island, Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture. Faculty of Science and Engineering Department of Information Science of Professor Kentaro Inanaga and Professor Yoshihiro YasutakeThe Regional Public Transportation Operation Management Support Group, led by The developed web reservation system has been introduced.

 On Tsuken Island, a paid demonstration run of public transport using electric mobility vehicles is being carried out as one of the projects adopted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as part of its First Emergency Measures to Eliminate Transportation Vacuums. The web system introduced for this demonstration run allows users to easily make reservations by entering their phone number, name, reservation date and time, number of people, departure and arrival points, and aims to improve the convenience of public transport.
