Academic exchange with Taiwan Apex University

On Tuesday, June 23rd, 18 students from Professor Yumiko Nakahara 's seminar in the Department Faculty of Economics Department of Economics, at our university participated in an academic exchange with 13 students from Alethalia University (Taiwan).

The event began with a welcome speech in English by Rinta Nakayama (Kokura Minami High School), a third-year student in the seminar, followed by presentations on a total of nine research topics from both universities. Through question-and-answer sessions, participants deepened their understanding of each other's knowledge.

Our university presented six diverse topics in English, including "Management Strategies of Apparel Companies," "Overseas Expansion of Japanese Game Companies," "A Comparison of the Cafe Industries in Japan and South Korea," "Differences in the Coffee Industries of Vietnam and Brazil," "Overseas Expansion of Sushi and Ramen," and "A Comparison of the Anime Industries in Japan and South Korea." We expressed the results of our daily research beyond the limitations of language.

Tianli University presented in Japanese on three themes focusing on Taiwanese culture: "Temples and Folk Activities," "Tourist Destinations and Food Culture," and "Traditional Taiwanese Music." The second half of the event became a lively exchange, including a choral performance of a song of Japanese origin sung in Chinese.

Sumika Sato, a third-year student in the same department who gave the closing speech in English, reflected on the exchange, saying, "The people from Aptitude Testament were very friendly and we were able to become friends with them right away. Also, their Japanese was very fluent, and it was clear that they had come because they really love Japan. The reason we chose anime as our presentation theme this time is because when we actually visited South Korea and Taiwan last year and interacted with local students, the topic of anime came up often, and we became curious about how much influence Japanese anime culture has overseas. We were also surprised by the high quality of the student presentations from Aptitude Testament, with their elaborate design of materials and the inclusion of videos during the presentations."

Following this, during a lecture in Professor Nakahara's "Asian Economics" course at our university, Associate Professor Lin Kuan-Ru of the Department of International Management and Trade at Aleungdo University gave a presentation entitled "The Impact on and Efforts for Taiwan under Global Economic Integration." The students listened attentively to the analysis of the Asian economy from a new perspective.

The Faculty Faculty of Economics will continue to engage in international exchange programs to help students develop the skills necessary for success in a global society.
