Lecture by SV League Chairman Masaaki Okawa

On Tuesday, November 25th, Masaaki Okawa, Chairman of the SV League, a public interest incorporated association, appeared as a guest speaker in a lecture entitled "Sports Management" taught by Professor Naohiko Ueno Faculty of Human Sciences Department of Sport Science and Health Human Sciences.
Mr. Okawa has served as executive director of the J.League and chairman of the men's basketball B.League, and is currently serving as chairman of the SV.League volleyball league.

The lecture began with a history of professional sports in Japan, explaining how professional baseball came to be, and examples of governance and development initiatives that began with the J.League, as well as activities such as community contributions and social collaboration. The lecture then traced Okawa's career and discussed various topics, including the events that led to the creation of the SV League and what is needed to aim for it to become the world's top league.
During the question and answer session following the lecture, questions were raised on topics such as how to effectively utilize the rapidly increasing number of arenas in Japan in recent years, and the relationship between the popularity of sports and anime.
