On Thursday, September 18th, Kyushu Railway Company (headquarters: Fukuoka City) presented a letter of appreciation to the Hoshino Koji Laboratory, Department of Photography and Imaging ArtsFaculty of Art and Design, at our university's Global Plaza.
This award is given to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the local community through the improvement of railway facilities, revitalization of railway use, and promotion of railway use. Hoshino Laboratory was recognized for its ongoing efforts over the past four years as part of the "JR Kyushu Support Project" to beautify the environment and improve the station's image through photography and video at local railway facilities, including Kashii Station. This time, the award was awarded after being recommended by Kashii Station.
At the presentation ceremony, JR Kashii Station Master Oshima presented a letter of appreciation to Professor Hoshino and a student representative, saying, "You have helped us raise awareness of the Kashii Line and make the station a familiar place in the local community, including by creating the station name sign at Uminonakamichi Station and decorating it with original characters. We would like to express our deepest gratitude."
After receiving the award, Professor Hoshino said, "This project was made possible thanks to the tremendous cooperation and understanding of everyone at JR Kyushu. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone involved and will continue to work to contribute to the revitalization of the local community."
The participating students said, "We actually conducted fieldwork and we are very happy that the initiatives we proposed were recognized."
