At the 63rd Fujifilm Photo Contest, Sakura Masui (Hakata Seisho High School), a second-year student Department of Photography and Imaging Arts Faculty of Art and Design, won the Excellence Award in the Under 39 category for her work "Diagonal Shadow."
This contest was started in 1950 with the aim of preserving and developing the culture of photography, and is one of the leading photo contests in Japan.
The winning entry, "Slanted Shadow," is themed around the light and shadow that pervade our daily lives, and expresses the fascinating aspects of natural light that we tend to overlook.
Reflecting on his award, Masui said, "I applied because one of the judges was a teacher I respect, and I am very honored to have received the Excellence Award. I would like to continue honing my photography and video expression skills, and capture a part of everyday life with a warm feeling."
