Students from the Department of Department of Living Environment Design Faculty of Art and Design, created Christmas displays for two commercial facilities in Fukuoka City.
The Christmas display at Chihaya Park (Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City), located within Gardens Chihaya, has been held annually since 2022 as the Gardens Chihaya Christmas Production Project. For this project, students came up with a character named "Woven," a dwarf fairy who is the guardian deity of Gardens Chihaya. In addition to setting up a photo spot under the main tree where you can take photos with Woven, the character display tells a story, showing him playing on the fence or admiring the tree from afar.
Kazuna Kashima (Nakamura Gakuen Girls' High School), a third-year student and display production leader at Gardens Chihayauchi, said, "The displays created by our predecessors have been well-received every year, and in order to carry them on again this year, we are focusing on repairing existing items and creating new woven items, making detailed adjustments on site to ensure visibility and storytelling. It was difficult to prepare while running both projects side by side, but we hope that everyone will enjoy Christmas with the displays we created."
Mina Tenjin (Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City) is creating Christmas displays that will adorn the atriums in two locations within the building (basement 1-2 floors, and 3-5 floors). The dynamic display, which reaches a maximum height of approximately 11 meters, features 53 hanging trees, snowflakes, reindeer, sleds, and children riding sleds. The hanging trees are topped with colorful and unique tree tops created in workshops for local children. Additionally, tree tops created by participants in a workshop held at the building on Sunday, November 16th, decorate the top of a 2-meter-tall freestanding Christmas tree (displayed in the north escalator hall on the 3rd floor) made up of numerous mini trees. These displays will be on display until Thursday, December 25th.
