A little early! A Christmas decoration workshop will be held!

On Saturday, November 10th and Sunday, November 19th, a workshop for local elementary school students, "Mina Tenjin Christmas Project - Let's make a sparkling tree top!" was held in the Communication Lounge of Building 17 of our university.

This workshop was planned by students from the Kurita Toru Laboratory in the Department Department of Living Environment Design Faculty of Art and Design, and was conceived to allow children to use their imagination to create tree tops to be used in the display that will decorate Mina Tenjin in the run up to Christmas.

The participating children chose one color from red, blue, or yellow to decorate star-shaped polystyrene foam provided by the students, and decorated it however they wanted with beads, ribbons, colored paper, etc. Looking forward to being displayed at Mina Tenjin, the children used unique ideas to create distinctive tree tops that would make their homemade stars stand out.

Third-year student Reino Fukagawa (Ryukoku High School), who planned the workshop, said, "I planned the workshop to be free-flowing while maintaining a sense of unity in the display. It was impressive to see the children having fun working on it, and I think they were able to express themselves freely." Third-year student Yushiori Hiwatashi (Arita Technical High School), also reflected with a smile, "I was reminded of the importance of having a solid concept from the planning stage. I hope that the children's excitement about Christmas will be conveyed through their creations."

Approximately 50 pieces were completed over the two-day workshop. These will be exhibited in the atrium space inside Mina Tenjin from Tuesday, November 11th until Christmas, along with the tree parts prepared by the students.

Please come and see the displays filled with children's art and student ideas, and get a taste of Christmas a little early!
