On Wednesday, July 16th, the final presentation on "PR Project to Secure Human Resources for the Water Supply Business" was held at the "Regional Co-creation Seminar" taught by Associate Professor Yukihira Shinya of the Department of Faculty of Collaborative Regional Development, Department of Regional Development of Regional Co-creation.
In this seminar, in collaboration with the Fukuoka City Water Bureau, students actually visited the site of the waterworks business. They deepened their understanding of the work and its importance, and delved into the role and appeal of the Waterworks Bureau through facility tours and interviews with staff. Afterwards, they worked in groups to consider how to best communicate this to the younger generation, and planned and proposed a promotional video.
Based on the students' suggestions, video production company J:COM Inc. created three short videos, which were shown at the presentation. The videos were designed to appeal to different audiences, such as one that conveys the appeal of the waterworks business (civil engineering) to science and engineering students, and another that introduces the ease of working at the Waterworks Bureau to new graduates.
After watching the video, a discussion took place to exchange opinions on areas for improvement. The suggestions made by the students will be used to further refine the video.
Takuma Harada (Kashima High School), a second-year student in the same department and a member of the project, reflected, "We gathered information by listening to explanations about the work from the Waterworks Bureau and visiting various facilities where the work is actually carried out. The group work made it easy to express opinions, and we were able to work together as a team. Through this project, we learned new things, such as presentation techniques, and I would like to use this knowledge in the future."
The completed video will be released sequentially through the Fukuoka City Water Bureau's official Instagram.
