On Wednesday, October 15th, approximately 60 students enrolled in Professor Maki Ichiro 's "Hospitality Business Seminar" course in the Department Department of Tourism Faculty of Collaborative Regional Development, visited the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk.
The students were given a tour of the hotel's banquet halls, guest rooms, bridal venue, and other facilities by the hotel's Deputy General Manager, Mr. Mizutani, who then gave them a lecture on the structure of the hotel's hospitality business and the educational programs for developing talented hotel personnel. Mr. Mizutani offered the following advice to students hoping to work in the hotel industry: "There is a trend for recruitment activities to start earlier each year. During the interview, it is important not only to mention the company's philosophy, but also to specifically convey your enthusiasm, such as 'what you want to do at the company' and 'what kind of career you want to build.'"
Ayano Kasahara (Kitakyushu Municipal High School), a third-year student who participated in the program, said, "My awareness of job hunting has increased significantly. After listening to the lecture, I want to be proactive and submit application forms and attend information sessions for companies that interest me even slightly. I learned that in line with recent trends in recruitment activities, it's important to 'get moving right away.'"
