Students from the Honda Masaaki Laboratoryin the Department of Tourism Faculty of Collaborative Regional Development, planned the "Itoshima Box," packed with a selection of local specialties and miscellaneous goods, with the aim of revitalizing the Itoshima area, and sold it in limited quantities.
This initiative was planned by students with the aim of promoting the appeal of Itoshima nationwide, and building a system that will support local industries in addition to contributing to the tourism industry.
The product concept is "A relaxing tea time delivered from Itoshima." The students visited the city many times to research tourist attractions, etc. After carefully interviewing producers to learn about the thoughts and dedication they put into their products, they not only selected the products but also created a booklet introducing the producers to be included in the boxes to tell the stories of the makers.
Sana Omori, a third-year student from Tsukuba Kaisei Fukuoka High School, said, "We considered product combinations with the aim of giving people a sense of 'Itoshima' and 'a relaxing tea time.' This was the first time that students had been involved in a business project, so we were feeling our way around things like schedule management, division of roles, and coordinating with producers, but as we progressed with the project, we gained a variety of skills, including coordination and management abilities, and I feel that this has led to great growth both as a team and as individuals. We would be happy if the gift boxes, which we have put a lot of thought into, will inspire people to actually visit Itoshima."
