"Art in Resonance: Munakata" set in Akama-juku

From November 1st (Sun) to 15th (Sun), "Resonating Art Munakata" is being held in the Akama-juku and Oshima areas of Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Faculty members, graduate students, and alumni of our university are participating in the art festival, exhibiting their works amidst the historic townscape and abundant nature.

The art festival aims to connect Munakata's history, culture, and nature with art, allowing many people to experience the charm of the town. The main venue, Akama-juku, is an area that flourished as a post town on the old Karatsu Highway, and exhibitions are held using traditional townhouses and shops.

Furthermore, the Oshima venue features works that harmonize with the island's unique nature and scenery, allowing visitors to experience a diverse range of art while touring both Akama-juku and Oshima venues.

This time, participants from our university include Professor Tetsuaki Maeda, Specially Appointed Professor of Department of Fine Arts and Media Sciences in Faculty of Art and Design; Yuya Tokuchi, Master's student in the Department of Sculpture and Expression in the Graduate School Graduate School of Fine Arts; and alumna Gin Soda. They are exhibiting their works against the backdrop of the historic townscape of Akama-juku and the rich natural environment of Oshima, showcasing the region's charm from an artistic perspective.

The artworks, which utilize the unique scenery and space of each venue, serve as part of an initiative to connect local communities with sensibilities, offering visitors new discoveries and encounters.
