The brass band won a gold medal at the national competition.

On Sunday, February 8th, our university's brass band won the gold prize at the 14th National Symphonic Jazz & Pops Contest, held at Bunkyo Civic Hall (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo).

The competition was held with the aim of pursuing authentic symphonic jazz and symphonic pop performances, and was attended by 18 groups from all over the country who had passed a recording audition.

On the day, 35 members performed the set piece "Breezin' (composed by Toshio Mashima)" and the free piece "The Midnight Sun Will Never Set (composed by Toshio Mashima)." Captain Yuka Takazaki (3rd year, Faculty of Commerce Department of Business and Marketing /Nakagoto High School) reflected, "This was the club's first national competition, so I was very nervous, but we all tried to make sure we enjoyed playing. When we heard we had won the gold prize, I was more surprised than happy. With the graduation of our fourth-year students, our overall sound will change, but we would like to continue challenging ourselves with new sounds in various competitions and tournaments."
