On Saturday, October 25th, a "Parasports Competition Experience Event" was held at Okusu Arena for students of our university, with 33 students participating, mainly first-year students from Faculty of Commerce.
The purpose of this experience event is to give students the opportunity to experience sports for people with disabilities, thereby deepening their understanding of diversity and recognizing the importance of a society of inclusion (a normalized society).
On the day, the participants were divided into four groups and experienced four sports for 30 minutes each: wheelchair tennis, wheelchair pickleball, boccia, and goalball.
Participating students commented, "This was a valuable experience that I would never have had the chance to have before. It gave me a newfound respect for professional para-athletes and increased my interest in para-sports."
Our university will continue to provide opportunities for students to be exposed to diverse values and deepen their understanding of how to realize a symbiotic society.
