Rin Toyosato (Yomitan High School), a fourth-year student in the Department Department of Sport Science and Health Faculty of Human Sciences, has been selected to represent Japan in the women's basketball team at the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics. This marks Toyosato's second time representing Japan.
On Thursday, September 18th, at Okusu Arena 2020, Toyosato reported to President Kitajima that she had been selected as a representative for this year's tournament. President Kitajima offered words of encouragement, saying, "Please stay injury-free and do your best as a representative of our university." Toyosato then declared with a smile, "I'll do my best to win the gold medal! Please support me!"
The Deaflympics is an international sports event for the hearing impaired held every four years. The upcoming event, scheduled for November, marks the 100th anniversary of the event and will be held for the first time in Japan. A total of 21 sports are scheduled, with 11 countries participating in the basketball event.
