At the "Maizuru Park Curry Festival 2026 Spring" held at Maizuru Park (Fukuoka City) on May 9th (Sat) and 10th (Sun), Faculty of Commerce Students from the faculty set up booths. This initiative aims to deepen learning through practical event experience in collaboration with external organizations. Professor Noboru Takagi This project was primarily carried out by 53 students enrolled in the "Special Lecture IA" (Event Practice Theory) course taught by [Name of instructor].
This course is unique in that it goes beyond classroom learning and involves activities close to real-world situations, such as preparation, coordination, and on-site response to ensure the success of an event. The students planned a festival booth to entertain visitors, and took the initiative to handle everything from preparing materials and setting up the day before to operating and dismantling the booth on the day of the event, running it for two days.
On the day of the event, many visitors, mainly families with children, came to the event, and the students' booths were bustling with activity throughout the day. There were many situations where students needed to make flexible decisions based on the reactions of visitors, such as adjusting their approach and responses, making it a practical learning experience for them.
Saki Fukada (Musashidai High School), a second-year student in the same department who participated as a support member, reflected, "When I participated last year, I experienced the difficulties of the day's flow and attracting attendees, so I made sure to share my own experiences and examples with the other members so that they could get a better idea of what to expect. On the day of the event, I made an effort to offer encouragement and support while observing the situation around me, and acted with the intention of ensuring that the operation ran smoothly. By striving to be involved in a way that allowed everyone to act proactively, I have come to see things from a broader perspective than before, and I feel that I have grown as a person."
In addition, Mitsumasa Inoue (Hakata High School), who played a central role in the operation this year, said, "During the preparation stage, we struggled to consolidate opinions, and even on the day of the event, there were difficulties such as the rules not being finalized until the last minute. However, seeing the children who came and enjoying the festival and receiving words of gratitude from their parents left a lasting impression on me. Working together with my teammates and going through trial and error to accomplish the task, I learned the importance of proactively seeking out opinions, and it was a valuable experience that will be useful in the future."
This booth exhibition provided a valuable opportunity to learn firsthand about the importance of marketing, organizational management, and communication through the planning and operation of a commercial event.
