At the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) held in June of this year, "Tian Yuan," a film in which Tao Xuan-Cheng, a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Visual Graduate School of Fine Arts, participated in the production, won the Special Jury Prize in the Short Drama category.
This film festival is the only International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) accredited international A-class film festival in China, and is known as one of Asia's leading film festivals, attracting outstanding works from all over the world.
In the production of the film, Mr. To played a central role as producer and visual effects supervisor, making a significant contribution to improving the overall quality of the visual expression.
Tao expressed his delight, saying, "The award-winning work is an Oriental fantasy AI short drama that utilizes generative AI to pursue a 'cinematic texture.' In order to visualize the grand worldview of the original novel, we challenged ourselves with a new production method that incorporated AI from planning to editing. We believe that this award recognizes not only the work itself, but also the new attempt to 'produce a movie-quality AI short drama' that our team worked on together. Believing in the possibilities of visual expression that can be brought about by the fusion of AI and art, we would like to continue to take on new challenges in the future."
