On August 27th (Thursday) and 28th (Friday), at the 16th Corrosion Prevention Technology Training Workshop held at our university, fourth-year students from the Department of Materials and Life Chemistry, Graduate SchoolGraduate School of Information Science, and Faculty of Life Science Department of Life Science participated as instructors' assistants for the practical training sessions, supporting the participants' hands-on work.
This training seminar was held with the aim of acquiring knowledge and skills related to corrosion and corrosion prevention, and was attended by engineers from companies and related organizations. The students were in charge of preparing for practical exercises, assisting with explanations of how to use the equipment, and providing technical support to the participants, thus supporting the smooth operation of the training.
The participating students applied the specialized knowledge and skills they cultivated through their research activities in practical settings, and developed their ability to clearly communicate knowledge and respond to on-the-ground situations through communication with other participants. Furthermore, interaction with engineers from companies and related organizations provided a valuable opportunity to learn how their specialized fields are utilized in society.
Graduate student Hikaru Watanabe (Kashiwaryo High School), who participated in the program, said, "It was a very fresh experience with many learning opportunities. I was inspired by the enthusiasm of the engineers who took the course, and I learned how knowledge of corrosion prevention and corrosion is used in the field. I would like to use this experience to further my research activities and my growth as an engineer."
Our university will continue to create opportunities for students to gain practical experience both on and off campus, utilizing their specialized knowledge and research findings, thereby fostering individuals who can thrive in society.
