Because there are few examples of teaching light and illumination in Japanese children's education, we are also researching children's play environments that focus on the beauty of light and shadow. We are applying the insight that "the quality of lighting depends on the balance of light source, reflector, and shielding material" to art and science communication activities that children learn through experience, and are working to develop and disseminate teaching materials for the "Light Workshop with Building Blocks." In addition, our research is aimed at training the next generation of leaders among students specializing in child education. This work, which has received high international acclaim in the UK, was created by students specializing in child education in Japan and South Korea with the hope that a rainbow-like bridge of friendship will be built across the strait between the two countries.
