Nineteen second-year students taking the "PBL B" course taught by Associate Professor Natsumi Fujiwara of Global Food Business Program have created a booklet titled "What to Eat Today?" which introduces supermarkets and restaurants around the university.
The students, working under the theme of "creating a food information magazine for people associated with our university," divided into supermarket and restaurant teams to discuss content and structure, and began research for publication. They obtained permission from various stores for inclusion and took photographs. After an interim presentation, they refined the content and completed the magazine.
The booklet includes a diagnostic chart for eating out versus cooking at home, allowing users to refer to pages based on their current mood. The restaurant pages are divided into four categories, such as cuisine type and price range, while the supermarket pages feature recipes tailored to the ingredients recommended by each store, as well as information on sale days and busy times.
Nanako Maeda (Shimabara Commercial High School), a member of the supermarket team, said, "We thought about how we could encourage people to cook for themselves, and we came up with ideas such as including recipes based on the store's recommended products and ingredients. Getting permission from each store to publish our content was difficult, but we were able to overcome it by working together as a team."
The booklet is available in racks on campus, as well as in the library and other locations. Please feel free to take a look.
