On Thursday, July 23rd, we held the first session of our new exchange program, "KYU-san, Annyeonghaseyo!?", which aims to cultivate an international perspective while familiarizing participants with the Korean language and culture.
This project was launched as a collaborative effort between Faculty of Commerce, the Global Education Center, Language Education and Research Center, and Fukuoka Korean Language School Uri (Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City). It aims to disseminate information about Korean language education at our university and to cultivate global talent who can deepen international exchange and intercultural understanding through their interest in Korea.
The theme of the first session was "Korea is 10 times more fun when you know more about it." It was aimed at students planning to travel to Korea during the summer holidays, as well as students interested in the Korean language and culture, and a total of 31 students participated from Faculty of International Studies of Culture, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Commerce, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Faculty of Life Science.
On the day of the event, Associate Professor Hye-mi Bang ofFaculty of Commerce Department of Business and Marketing Commerce, and Ms. Go-eun Choi from the same university served as instructors, introducing useful Korean expressions for travelers, unique Korean culture and customs, and helpful trivia. Participants learned in an enjoyable way through quizzes and conversations, deepening their understanding of Korea.
Furthermore, this project is not only intended to provide an opportunity to start learning Korean, but is also expected to be a place where students can meet like-minded individuals who love Korea, regardless of their faculty or year level, and expand their social circle.
In the future, we plan to hold events on a variety of themes, including travel to Korea, Korean language conversation, Korean culture, K-POP, and Japan-Korea exchange.
