From July 8th (Wed) to July 15th (Wed), Professor Junichiro Sakai's seminarin the Department Department of Japanese Culture International Culture, hosted a training group (6 students and 1 faculty member) from our partner institution, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT).
This training program aimed to deepen understanding of Japanese culture through Japanese language learning and cultural experiences. During the program, the trainees attended lectures on Japanese language and cultural studies at the university, and also participated in activities such as kendo practice and a tour of Fukuoka city planned and prepared by students of the same seminar, fostering interaction with university students.
At the "Mini Japanese Class" held on Tuesday the 14th, students enrolled in the Japanese language teacher training program conducted the lesson. Through games and conversation practice, the students from HUFLIT actively engaged in practical Japanese language learning, communicating in Japanese. For the students from our university who taught the class, it was a valuable opportunity to develop practical skills in Japanese language education.
At the subsequent "Japan-Vietnam Comparative Cultural Research Meeting," students from both universities presented their research findings and ideas on themes such as "foreign language learning," "cultural comparison," "international cooperation," and "subculture," and exchanged opinions. There was also a lively question-and-answer session, providing an opportunity to deepen understanding of the cultures and commonalities of both countries and to learn about each other's values and ways of thinking.
Students from HUFLIT who participated shared comments such as, "It was a great experience to be able to take various classes at Kyushu Sangyo University University. I was happy that the students taught Japanese so carefully," and "I usually have many opportunities to study on my own, but it was refreshing and fun to learn language and culture together with everyone while interacting like this."
Honoka Ono (Yame High School), a second-year student in the same department and one of the main members of the hosting team, reflected on the activity, saying, "Through interacting with the HUFLIT students, I learned the importance of trying to understand each other, and it was a good opportunity to re-examine how we communicate in the future."
