This research project was selected for funding under the Japanese government's competitive research grant program, "Enhancement of International Collaborative Research (B)." This program supports international collaborative research, and in the fields of economics and business administration, only about 5 to 10 projects are selected each year, making it a highly competitive program. This conference was held as the culmination of four years of international collaborative research, which began in October 2022.
On the day of the event, we invited three overseas researchers with whom we have previously collaborated on research.
Ravi Ramamurti (Distinguished Professor, Northeastern University, USA)
Andrei Panibratov (Professor, Léonard de Vinci Pôle University, France)
Agnieszka McCaleb (Lecturer, Vrije University Amsterdam, Netherlands)
The three are internationally active researchers, and in particular, Ms. Ramamurti is a world-renowned researcher known for leading theoretical research on multinational corporations in emerging markets. Their international collaborative research began when they met Professor Nakahara at an international conference in Kyoto in 2019, and they are now visiting the university from Boston.
Over two days, the attendees engaged in lively discussions on the theme of "How the growth of multinational corporations in emerging markets is changing the global division of labor," focusing on multinational corporations in China, India, Taiwan, Russia, and Poland.
Professor Nakahara said, "I am pleased that we were able to gather all the members together for this discussion, as a culmination of our collaborative research over the past four years, visiting overseas collaborators in Boston, Paris, and Amsterdam." He added that they plan to further deepen discussions toward publishing a co-authored English-language book with an overseas publisher.
