Display artwork created by students from the Department of Living Environment Design Faculty of Art and Design is adorning the atrium area on the third floor of the JR Kashii Station building, "Ekimae 1-chome Kashii".
The "Ekimae 1-chome Kashii Space Design Project," which began in 2014, involves creating display works within the facility each year to represent the four seasons. Students are responsible for everything from planning and prototyping to production, installation, and dismantling.
This spring's display theme is "Bringing Spring to You!". A hot air balloon adorned with soft spring-colored flowers floats gently through the sky, and the animals riding on it are making flowers bloom in the sky to announce the arrival of spring. Using the hot air balloon, which only flies on sunny days, as the theme, we put our hopes into it that "the hearts of those who see it will be brightened even just a little." To create a world that aligns with the theme, we carefully considered the colors and shapes of the wrapping paper used for the flowers, as well as the display method, until we finally completed it.
Shiho Ikuno (Tosu Commercial High School), a second-year student in the same department and a member of the group, said, "All of the animal plush toys are hand-sewn, and we pay close attention to their expressions and movements. We designed them so that people can enjoy them from various angles, and we hope that people will feel the arrival of spring and get excited through these creations."
This artwork will be on display until the end of May this year. Please come and see it if you are in the area.
