On Thursday, August 6th, 14 graduate students from the Graduate Graduate School of Economics and Business conducted an off-campus class, visiting Fukuoka International Airport Corporation and the Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The purpose of this class was to allow students to experience firsthand how the management and economic knowledge they learn in lectures is actually applied in real companies and local communities.
At Fukuoka International Airport Co., Ltd., we received explanations about airport operations, user services, and the renovation of the international terminal, followed by a tour of the boarding area. We visited facilities that cater to diverse users, such as a prayer room for Muslims, a relaxation space, and a kids' corner, and learned that the airport is not just an aviation-related facility, but an international hub that supports the movement and interaction of many people.
At the Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we learned about the overseas expansion and import/export efforts of companies within the prefecture. We were told that in order to do business overseas, it is important not only to have products and services, but also to understand the culture, politics, and business practices of the target country and to build trust. For the students, it was a valuable opportunity to think about businesses that connect from the local area to the world and to consider their own future studies and careers.
