On March 20th (Friday, a public holiday), as part of our community service activities, we carried out maintenance work at Hoshino Village's "Hoshi no Hana Park" and cleaned up Shikanoshima Beach in Fukuoka City.
Approximately 80 people, including students from the university's semi-hardball baseball and soccer clubs, as well as faculty and staff, participated in the maintenance work at Hoshino Village's "Hoshi no Hana Park."
On that day, the semi-hardball baseball club worked in the morning, and the soccer club worked in the afternoon, tackling tasks such as removing climbing plants, cutting down trees, and improving the parking lot within the park.
In addition, 30 students and faculty members, including members of the women's basketball team and other students, participated in the Shikanoshima beach cleanup volunteer activity. The participants worked to collect trash that had washed ashore on the beach, and collected 40 bags of garbage.
Through two volunteer activities, the students gained valuable insights into the work of those who support the maintenance and improvement of the natural environment and local facilities. They realized the importance of protecting local communities and the natural environment, and it was a precious opportunity to raise their awareness of contributing to society as university students.
Our university will continue to engage in volunteer activities in collaboration with the local community, fostering students' social skills and initiative, and striving to contribute to the local society.
