Our university's women's handball team, now in its fourth year since its founding, achieved a remarkable victory in the "2026 35th Kyushu Student Handball League Spring Tournament (Women's Division 1)," held from April 30th (Thursday) to May 4th (Monday/National Holiday).
Based on their performance in this tournament, the team will participate in the "56th Women's West Japan Intercollegiate Handball Championship for 2026," which will be held in Yamaguchi Prefecture from August 9th (Sunday), as a recommended entry from the Kyushu Intercollegiate Handball Federation.
Student coach Yuko Tasato (4th year, Faculty of Commerce Department of Business and Marketing of Commerce / Koza High School) said, "I'm honestly very happy that we were able to achieve our team's goal of winning the championship in our fourth year. I've seen the players work hard through difficult times, so it was really great to see their efforts reflected in such a tangible result. I think that not only the training content, but also the team as a whole was conscious of not being afraid to take on change. I feel that each player's positive attitude towards challenges and their continuous efforts to make the team better led to this result."
Captain Tsugumi Noguchi (4th year, Department of Department of Sport Science and Health Faculty of Human Sciences / Nagasaki Nihon University High School) also spoke about her aspirations for the future, saying, "I am very happy that we were able to win the Kyushu Spring League for the first time in our fourth year since the club was founded. I would like to thank the coach and staff who have supported us up to this point, and everyone who has cheered us on. I believe that this victory was achieved through the efforts of all my teammates. At the upcoming West Japan Intercollegiate Championship, we will not be satisfied with this result, and we will work hard as a team to improve ourselves and show an even better performance. We ask for your continued support."
