Our university's men's basketball team won second place in the "31st All Kyushu University Spring Basketball Championship (Spring Tournament)" held from May 3rd (Sun) to 10th (Sun).
The team advanced through the qualifying league to participate in the main tournament. Although they narrowly lost in the final, it was a significant improvement from their 7th place finish the previous year.
The team is scheduled to participate in the "76th West Japan Intercollegiate Basketball Championship for Men," which will be held in Osaka Prefecture from May 31st (Sunday).
Captain Riku Nakatake (4th year, Department Department of Sport Science and Health Faculty of Human Sciences / Fukuoka Maizuru High School) said with conviction, "We carefully considered countermeasures depending on the opponent, and fought with the ability to execute those countermeasures accurately in our play and the team spirit to go for the win together. It's very disappointing that we couldn't win, but it was the team's first time in the finals in several years, so the team's morale was high and I think it was a very good tournament. We expect tough matches from the first round in the West Japan tournament, but we have set our sights on reaching the BEST 8 and will fight to achieve that goal using our team spirit and execution skills as our weapons!"
